SAP LeanIX September 2026 Updates: Your Personal EA Helper

Updating Fact Sheets with the EA Assistant
Updating dozens of fact sheets one by one has always eaten up EA time. The Enterprise Architecture Assistant now proposes updates across multiple fact sheets directly in the inventory table: you describe the change once, review the suggestions, and approve before anything is saved.
I like the idea, but the review step is not a formality. Quality of the proposed output still needs checking, especially on fields where a plausible-sounding wrong value is worse than an empty one.
A more cost-efficient MCP server
If your AI assistant ever seemed to be missing tools when querying LeanIX via MCP, this is why: it was working from a fixed default tool set. Progressive tool discovery now lets agents find and apply what they need on their own, which makes every capability reachable without extra configuration. According to LeanIX, it also cuts token cost per session by at least 40%.
Upcoming: a completely rebuilt survey experience
Data gathering is the unglamorous foundation of EA, so surveys have always mattered more than their reputation suggests. Releasing in September, the rebuilt experience connects directly to your inventory and uses AI both to help you scope a survey and to support the recipients while they answer.
The part that matters most: responses are reviewed before they are written back. That replaces the old last-response-overwrites behaviour, which fixes a longstanding pain point.
Upcoming: MCP write access
From October, you will be able to update your inventory just by talking to your AI tool. Creating, updating, and deleting fact sheets through the MCP server turns routine data maintenance from manual work into a conversational task.
This is the one I find most interesting strategically. It does not just save time, it changes where the work happens. If architects can maintain the inventory from the tool they already have open, how often do they still need to open LeanIX at all?
