Every month, SAP LeanIX ships updates that quietly reshape how enterprise architecture teams work. July 2025 is no exception. Here is what landed and why it matters from a practitioner's perspective.

EA Assistant Answers Architecture Questions in Seconds

Searching through your inventory to answer the same questions every day is one of those EA tasks that eats more time than it should. The new EA Assistant in SAP LeanIX lets you just ask, and it pulls sourced answers straight from your workspace in seconds. It covers risk audits, lifecycle checks, and rationalization analysis. Every answer is attributed to its source, and nothing changes without your explicit approval.

Moreover, the EA Assistant is about to get a lot more useful: starting in July, you will be able to pull live market data straight into your architecture work. Vendor end-of-life dates, product comparisons, market news, all without switching tools or losing context. That is a meaningful step toward closing the gap between EA documentation and real-world technology intelligence.

Contract Management is Now a Fact Sheet Type (for Free)

One of the most underrated updates this month: Contract Management is a new optional fact sheet type, and it is available at no extra cost. You can now link vendor agreements directly to your applications, track renewals, understand spending, capture compliance obligations, and feed that data into rationalization decisions.

If you have ever missed a renewal because the contract lived in a SharePoint folder nobody checked, this one is for you. Missed renewals and hidden costs usually come down to one thing: contract data living somewhere outside your IT inventory. Contract Management in LeanIX closes that gap. One of those updates that quietly removes a lot of risk.

Custom Reports Without Development Resources

Custom reports in LeanIX no longer depend on development resources. Connect the LeanIX MCP server to your IDE, link GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude Code, and just describe the report you need in plain language. The assistant generates the code, you preview it against your live workspace data, refine it with follow-up prompts, and publish it directly.

This changes the economics of custom reporting significantly. What previously required a developer to write TypeScript or JavaScript against the LeanIX API can now be done by an architect with a good prompt. Whether that always produces the right result is another question, but the barrier to entry has dropped substantially.

Ownership Cleanup When People Leave

Outdated subscriptions after someone leaves the team are a surprisingly common source of ownership gaps in LeanIX workspaces. Admins can now clean up everything for a departing user in a single step, and users can hand over their own subscriptions from their profile settings before they move on.

Small change, real impact on data quality. Anyone who has inherited a workspace where former colleagues still show up as responsible for dozens of fact sheets will appreciate this.
